KCET 2017: Counselling Schedule & Admission Process

kcetKCET 2017 2nd Counselling (Modify, delete or re-order options) has been started from 11th July 2017. Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET 2017) is formerly known as Karnataka CET (K CET/Kar CET). It is managed by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA CET) under the aegis of Karnataka University. CET Karnataka is a state level entrance exam organized for providing admission in various full-time courses in the field of engineering, pharmacy & other allied courses offered by various colleges and institutions located in Karnataka state. Note: From the 2017-18 academic year onwards, KCET 2017 exam will not be conducted for admissions in MBBS & BDS courses. NEET 2017 exam will be considered for admission in medical & dental courses. Admission in B.Arch will be done through NATA 2017 exam score.

KCET Counselling/Admission

The KCET 2017 Counselling (option entry) has been started from the 14th June, 2017. Candidates are invited for counselling process according to their performance in the entrance examination. Candidates will have to report for the document verification with the original documents as per the schedule announced by the authority. The seat allotment will be done based on the ranks secured by the candidates, filled choices and availability of seats. If the candidate will not be satisfied with the seat allotment, would be participated in other counselling rounds.

Documents Required:

  • SSLC/ 10th class mark sheet
  • 2nd PUC/ 12th class mark sheet
  • Copy of filled KCET 2017 application form

KCET Result 2017

The authority has released the KCET 2017 rank on 1st June 2017. The KCET 2017 Result has been declared by the KEA on 30th May, 2017. Candidates can check the result by visiting the official website of the authority. Candidates are required to enter their registration number on the official site to view results. Candidates are advised to take printouts of the result and keep it safe till the admission procedure.

KCET Answer Key 2017

The final answer key of all subjects has been released officially on 30th May 2017. Candidates who have appeared in the examination can check the KCET 2017 Answer Key via online mode. The answer key is available through the website (link is given above). Through answer key, candidates can get an rough idea about how much marks they will going to score in the examination. The answer key has been released for physics, chemistry, biology & mathematics subjects.

KCET 2017 Admit Card

Candidates those have successfully registered for the exam can download the admit card through the official website of the authority. The KCET Admit Card 2017 was issued from 17th April, 2017. The admit card contains details like candidates name & roll number, exam date & timing, exam center, etc.

KCET 2017 Application Form

The authority has again provided the facility to edit the application form through online mode. Candidates can make correction in the application form from 8th May to 15th May 2017 (5:00 PM). The application form was available on the official site of KEA (also available here). Candidates can fill and submit the KCET Application Form via online process through the official website of the authority. There was no offline mode available for entertaining the application form. The application form was released from the 27th January, 2017 (4:00 PM). Candidates are required to upload the scanned images of photograph, signature, left thumb impression & parent signature in prescribed format.

Application Fee:

The application fee is Rs. 650/- for Gen/OBC candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST candidates. The fee payment will be made through the specified bank challan. Candidates residing outside Karnataka are required to pay Rs. 750/- and candidates residing outside India have to pay Rs. 5000/-. For candidates residing outside India are needed to pay the fee through DD drawn in favor of Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority payable at Bangalore. Candidates are advised to take printouts of the application form for further use.

KCET Eligibility Criteria

Here we have mentioned the eligibility for various courses:

For Engineering Courses:

  • Pass in 2nd PUC/12th or equivalent exam with Physics & Mathematics as a compulsory subjects and English as a language subject.
  • Candidates must have secured 45% marks in physics & mathematics along with any one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Biology/Electronics/Computer for general candidates and 40% marks for reserved categories.
  • Candidates appearing in qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
  • For architecture, candidates have to qualify the NATA examination.

For Pharmacy/Science Courses:

  • Candidates should have cleared 2nd PUC/12th or equivalent exam with physics, chemistry, biology/Mathematics and English as a language subject.
  • Students must have obtained 50% marks in PCB group for general categories and 40% marks for reserved categories.
  • Appearing candidates are also eligible to apply.

KCET Exam Pattern

KCET exam pattern is mentioned below:

  • Exam Mode: The exam will be conducted via offline method (pen and paper based mode).
  • Type of Questions: Questions will be objective type questions.
  • No. of Questions: Each section will contain total 60 questions.
  • Answer Mode: Candidates will be required to use only blue or black ball point pen to mark their answers.
  • Marking Scheme: For each correct response one mark will be awarded.
  • Negative Marking: There will not any provision of negative marking for incorrect response.

The KCET Syllabus 2017 was mostly based on the First and Second PUC syllabus prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State. KCET 2017 FAQ’s (Most Asked Questions)

Answer: Not necessary. Application form is common for all the courses.
Answer: You have to complete 17 years of age as on 31st December 2017.
Answer: The Application has to be filled up in all respects. Where ever any column is not applicable, the candidate shall write N.A. in the relevant column.
Answer: If you have taken a seat in any of the discipline through KEA then it is necessary to write the previous CET No., college, course etc.
Answer: No. We will consider the total marks obtained in all subjects.
Answer: No. The candidate has to study from 1st standard to 10th standard continuously to get the benefit of reservation under Kannada medium.
Answer: The Principal/Head master of the institution will issue Kannada medium certificate which has to be counter signed by BEO of the area/jurisdiction. Uncertified certificate will not be accepted.
Answer: If your parents mother tongue is also Kannada, then you are eligible under clause (c). But you have to write a Kannada language test of level IV standard conducted by KEA & obtain a minimum of 12 marks out of 50 in the Kannada language test conducted by KEA.

KCET 2018

KCET 2018 (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) also known as Karnataka CET (K CET/Kar CET). It is a state level entrance exam. This exam is managed by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) under the aegis of Karnataka University. The application form will be provided from the 2nd week of January 2018.
