Karnataka PGCET 2017: Application Form, Eligibility, Exam Dates

Karnataka PGCET 2017The Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) is the state level entrance test conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for granting admission to full-time and part-time postgraduate courses. Admission to first year full-time/part-time MBA, MCA, M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch, part-time M.Tech Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) and second year MCA programme in government/private aided/private un-aided educational institutions situated in the limits of Karnataka is offered through PGCET. Here, in this article we have mentioned the complete information about Karnataka PGCET 2017 including application form, eligibility, dates, exam pattern, admit card, result and counselling.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Application Form

KEA announces its PGCET 2017 application form in the first week of July, 2017 (tentatively). Interested candidates can apply online through the official website of KEA for filling the application form. Fill all the particulars in the application form carefully and upload passport size colour photograph and signature in JPEG format. All the applicants are advised to keep safe your registration ID and password for further use.

Application Fee

Details about the Karnataka PGCET 2017 application fee is mentioned below:

  • For OBC and General Candidates – Rs. 650/-
  • For SC/ST Category Candidates – Rs. 500/-

Application fee can be paid through challan deposited in any of the branch of state bank of Mysore. Candidates can also pay the application fee in E-payment post offices.

Note:

  • Candidates who are not the origin of Karnataka are eligible for admission to those MBA/MCA seats which are surrendered by the management.
  • Candidates who have valid GATE score card are not required to appear PGCET 2017 entrance examination but they have to apply online for application.

Eligibility Criteria

To appear Karnataka PGCET 2017, candidates have to satisfy all the eligibility norms. The eligibility criteria is discussed below:

  • Applicant should be the Karnataka resident and meets the domicile requirements of Karnataka state.
  • Candidates who have completed minimum 7 years of their academic qualification from class I from the institutions of Karnataka are eligible for applying.
  • For admission to M.Tech programme, minimum 50% aggregate marks are required in B.E./B.Tech (45% in case of SC/ST and Category-I candidates). Same marks criteria is required in the qualifying examination for admission to MBA programme.
  • Those who have passed an undergraduate examination with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Applications or Computer Programming or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects with 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST and Category – I candidates) are eligible to apply for full-time MCA course.
  • For lateral entry to MCA programme, one must have passed BCA/B.Sc (IT/CS) with Mathematics at graduate level and obtained 50% aggregate marks (45% in case of SC/ST and Category – I candidates).

Important Dates

Here, we have mentioned the tentative dates of Karnataka PGCET 2017:

  • Commencement of Online Application Form: first week of July
  • Commencement of Payment of Fees in the specified bank from: first week of July
  • Last date to apply online: last week of July
  • Last date to pay the fees in specified bank: last week of July
  • Admission ticket downloading from: in the month of August
  • Examination Date: first week of August
  • Result Announcement: third week of August
  • Counselling starts from: first week of September

Exam Pattern

For M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch Courses:

Question paper will consist of Part-1 and Part-2. Part-1 contains 50 questions and part-2 contains 25 questions. Each question of part-1 will be of 1 mark and each question of part-2 carries 2 marks. Question paper of M.E./M.Tech/M.Arch is of total 100 marks.

For MBA Course:

Examination conducted for MBA course will consists of 100 marks. Candidates have to answer the questions in the time period of 150 minutes. The type of question paper is objective type containing four different options. Each question carries one mark.

For MCA Course:

The question paper designed for MCA course is of 100 marks with time duration of 150 minutes. All the questions asked in the examination are of objective type. Question paper will consist of Part-A and Part-B, 60 questions in Part-A of 1 mark and 20 questions in Part-B of 2 marks.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Hall Ticket

Candidates can download their admission ticket/hall ticket of Karnataka PGCET 2017 from the official website of KEA. To download the hall ticket, you are required to enter the application number and date of birth in the prescribed space. Don’t forget to preserve the printout of hall ticket for further use.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Result

Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) publishes  the Karnataka PGCET 2017 result in the third week of August, tentatively. Candidates can check their results from the official website of the KEA. Merit list will be published and prepared on the basis of marks you have scored in the entrance examination.

Karnataka PGCET 2017 Counselling

It must be necessary for the candidates to attend Karnataka PGCET 2017 counselling in person for the allotment of seats. Choice for the college and branch will be exercised on the counselling day only. Seats are allotted on the basis of marks in entrance examination.  It is expected that the counselling process will commence from first week of December (tentative).
